The opening line from Blaber's latest post.

"Desperation.
That is the one word to describe the latest ridiculous claim coming from the Len Bernardo campaign."

The staff at Ulster Politics thinks that the only thing desperate is Blogmaster Blaber's pathetic attempt to try and discredit the Len Bernardo campaign on a daily basis to help his buddy Michael Hein get elected. Blaber has now stooped as low as to questioning the integrity of both Len and Terry Bernardo, calling their claim of receiving an envelope from the Dept. of Social Services filled with thousands of ants "ridiculous". Calling what happened to the Bernardo's a "RIDICULOUS CLAIM" is a just plain ridiculous itself.

Here's a link to the Channel 6 News story which explains the matter in question.

The fact of the matter is that the envelope did come from Roberto Rodriguez at the Department of Social Services. It was an annual report that he said that he mailed to Mr. Bernardo. The fact is that there were thousands of ants, not hundreds. This envelope and it's contents are now in the possession of the Postmaster Inspector, and are under investigation by that office.

Unlike young, depserate, wannabe journalist, Blaber, the Post Office takes this matter quite seriously, as tampering with the mail is a Federal Offense. The Ulster County Sheriff's office is investigating this matter as well because it involves a County Agency.

Blaber's idol, Hugh Reynolds, as well as a number of other reputable journalists have contacted the Bernardo's to get the story. Blaber should take a lesson from his idol, Reynolds and get the facts from repubtable sources before spewing lies on his lame blog.

We've reported now you decide.

on Ulster Musings

The Balloon Wars
Coming on the heals of "antgate" it's no surprise that Ulster County Democrats are being obnoxious again. For the last couple of days at the Ulster County Fair, Len Bernardo and the Ulster Republicans have had great energy and enthusiasm, and it has shown as the fair has been a sea of green Bernardo balloons. On the other hand the Democrats have had trouble keeping up. Tonight, their frustration must have came to a head because Elliot Auerbach along with an unidentified Democrat in a knock-off "Spongebob Squarepants" outfit started handing out balloons around the Republican booth. They continued to do so even after being apprised that this was in violation of U.C. Fair policy. Eventually they left but soon, who other than Jeremy Blaber shows up handing out balloons around the Republican booth. Due to these events, the Democrats nearly lost their booth at the Fair. The best part of all of this was to see one of the Democrats working the booth publicly chastising Blaber for his childish actions. I say to hell with the press wars, the balloon wars go to the Republicans HANDS DOWN.

Guess the dems initially thought the republicans must have somehow outsmarted them, and get a better location. (I'm sure omething will come out, that the UC fair organizers were playing politics when placing the respective political booths).

Spongbob? Is that true? If so, that is a gas. Talk about hiding their true selves, and tricking children.

What they fail to realize, UC Residents are tired of politics as usual. They, of all parties, should understand the term 'Change'. Hein is the same old, Bernardo is change.

I believe the Bernardo's. I know that they went to the police and to the Postmaster, not the press. They were not looking for press, they were looking for the person who did this to them. People talk and word eventually spread to the press, and they called the Bernardo's, not the other way around. Call Hugh Reynolds and ask him. When he called the Bernardo's, they asked him, "who told you about this" and he wouldn't tell.

They also wanted to send a message to the person that did this. If I were the person that did it, I would be a little uneasy. The Post Office Inspector General does not and is not fooling around. From what I understand, the Bernado's called the State Police on the evening of the incident. However the County Police got involved on their own because the document came from a County Agency.

The Democrats have a prime location. When you enter at the main gate and turn left, you run right smack into the Democratic booth. So everyone is waking right past it. And literally, they are walking past it and choosing to go to the Republican booth and meet Len Bernardo and carry his balloons.

The problem with the Democrats booth, is there is no life and no energy.

Most of the time, it's just one lonely person sitting behind the table.

The Republican booth is alive with energy and young people helping to hand out balloons and stickers to people. There's a buzz all around the Republican booth. It is the place to be at the fair.

Sensing this energy, the Democrats decided to move over to their space, several times. The UC Fair Official wanted to throw the Democrats out Friday night because their behavior was so out of line. The Republicans were the ones who urged the Fair official to let them stay.

Everything about the Democrats' campaigns the past few weeks has been screaming desperation. While the claims they and some bloggers have been making about winning the press wars may be true, it appears to be of no consequence.

People feel energy, enthusiasm and optimism when they talk to the Republican candidates. They hear a message of hope for the future of our County.

The Democrats, on the other hand, are desperately trying to distance themselves from the plethora of recent failures of County Government while using their candidates' participation in that same Government as a justification for their candidacies.

People sense the contradiction and there simply is no way to resolve that.

So, the Democrats say that Mr. Bernardo is lying about ants. They go over to the Republican booth to ride the Republican momentum. They claim that self-financing is a bad thing. They do anything and everything to project a bad light onto Mr. Bernardo and Mr. Quigley.

Guess what? It's not working. Our guys are gaining ground every day. Their supporters are happy and smiling and not throwing mud. You can feel the energy, physically, when you enter a room where Mr. Bernardo and Mr. Quigley are speaking.

Until now, the Republicans have been ahead on qualifications, experience, endorsements and vision. Now, they can add their supporters' energy and enthusiasm to the list.

The Democrats have the press (no real surprise) and special interest donations. Their desperation comes from the knowledge that what they have just isn't enough.

Anyone taking bets?

Where do people come up with this nonsense. It was the Republicans that were right outside the Democratic booth campaigning. The Dems were handing out balloons outside the tent but about 15-20 feet from the GOP. The GOP had no shame.

5:49 There is a picture of Jeremy Blaber on Clark Richters blog. He is standing in front of the Republican booth with a bouquet of balloons like Mary Poppins. The UC Fair guidelines say that you may only be in front of your own area. The Democrats area was at the other end of the tent, one row over. I think that pretty much makes your comment a lie. You might want to check your pants for flames. Because liars pants generally tend to catch of fire.

Thanks for clarifying that the Democrats were campaigning 15 to 20 feet away from the Republican booth. That's the problem. The Ulster County Fair official told them that they are not allowed to leave the immediate vicinity of their own booth.

The Democrats were told that repeatedly, because they are obviously hard of hearing, and couldn't quite grasp that concept - you know rules that they have to follow.

Their booth was not near the GOP booth, and the Dems had no business being within 15 to 20 of the GOP booth campaigning, and THAT'S why the entire Democratic booth was almost ejected from the fair.

The only nonsense here is that you don't know what you are talking about.

But thanks for trying to defend them, and in the process placing them at the scene of the UC Fair Rules Violation. I am going to use your post in a letter that I am going to write to UC Fair official condemning the behavior of the Democrats at this fair. Of course I will have the picture from Clark Richters blog, as well as your words to back up my allegations.

Thanks!

Go ahead and file a complaint. There are pictures of a kid about 25 standing outside the Dem booth, in the tent, holding up huge Bernardo Quigley signs and handing out flyers.

They looked like the big foam baseball fingers.

Did the Dems say anything? Nah, they went along with it, politics is a blood sport.

It's a shame the GOP is full of a bunch of pussies.

Regardless of where Blaber is (in front of the GOP booth), notice that there is NO ONE anywhere near him trying to get a Hein balloon.

None of this bullshit will get either of them elected.

Why waste the energy and money for 1% of the voters who know who they are voting for already anyway?

49.5% of those balloons went to people in Dutchess/Orange or some other county and 49.5% went to people who don't vote anyway! The 1% who got them and will or can vote are fiends or relatives.
What a waste of time from both camps.

You don't see Hinchey, Bonacic, Cahill, or Larkin there do you? Even if their districts cross counties, they know better.

If the Democrats didn't care about the balloons, then why couldn't Jeremy Blaber stay in front of his own booth? Why go over to the GOP booth and try and hand out balloons?

Why bring out the knock off Spongebob costume?

Why even have balloons at the fair anyway if you don't care?

The Republicans kicked the Democrats ass at the fair, and now all of a sudden the fair doesn't matter.

I personally worked the Republican booth and I can tell you that I met a shitload of people from Ulster County that wanted nothing to do with the Democrats.

Yes, there were some people from Orange and Dutchess Counties, but guess what, they all had friends in Ulster County.

It's easy to dismiss something as "unimportant" when you got your ass kicked. I wouldn't expect anything less from the Dems.

I never said the Democrats didn't care, they were as lame as the Republicans were with the meaningless balloon wars.
I said the whole thing was foolish and a waste of time. It never mattered!

If the Republicans want to count that they gave kids balloons as a victory, so be it. It still won't me a thing in November.

Republicans/Conservatives = Nascar/corn dogs/country fairs and music

Democrats/Liberals = Art galleries/vegetarian cuisine/jazz

Of course they had more supporters there. I am sure you saw your share of Bush supporters too! All 23% of them.

Actually, the Republicans were standing around the Democrat booth while Sponge Bob was causing a stir by their booth.

While they were having a fit at their corner, I was having a nice chat with their solicitor at ours, pleasantly chatting about how they were doing.

Eventually the fella with the Quig and Bernie signs went back to his site, while Quig and Bernie were hootin & hollerin over there.

A stark difference on how two different manorisms handle the same confrontation. We smiled and had laughs with the Republican surrogate, they treated Blaber like they treat the middle class.

Hey, I'm a Republican and I'm a vegan. You really shouldn't stereotype people.

Isn't it an oxymoron to be a democrat/pro-abortion & vegetarian?

You don't believe in killing animals, but babies are OK?

I guess that's the same as being pro-abortion and anti-death penalty, it's all in the timing.

......and the religious right is slowly coming out. Slowly but surely that Christian Skate thing is rearing it's ugly head.

Hey Lenny is that you?

Anonymous said...

No, it's not Lenny. I thought found it amusing that someone is bragging about how Democrats are vegetarians, and I had just run into a Democrat who was "all about abortion".

It just kinda struck me funny.

Haven't you ever seen Dennis Miller do his routine about being pro-abortion and anti-death penalty.... it's his line... "I guess it's all in the timing for those folks"... I wish I could take credit for it.... but it's all Dennis Miller.... google it if you don't believe me.
