Which Republican is going to clean Nicky Woerner's clock next year?

THE TOWN OF ULSTER BUDGET - NICKY WOERNER'S LAST STAND???

OK, Nicky Woerner's days as a political prodigy are done. When he was 19 he almost kicked the rear end of Ulster Town Supervisor Freddie Wadnola. Two years later, out of fear, concern, or some other reason, Fred retired as Town Supervisor.

Nicky cruised to victory and then was re-elected over Don Wise, who worked hard and ran a credible campaign in 2007. Last year Nicky presented the consummate Election year budget - a modest tax cut that hid the pain. But the truth hurts, and the truth is Nicky's budget last year was a disguise - designed to hide his plans for 2008.

It's appropriate almost that the budget was adopted around the time the new vampire flick hit the theaters, because Nicky and his boys are sucking the blood out of Ulster taxpayers.

Ulster Politics is taking bets about Nicky's absurd budget. We'd like to know:

AND WHILE WE ARE TALKING ABOUT THE ABSURD,let's turn to the Kingston Daily Freeman.

In today's useless report by the Daily Freeman - written suprisingly by the normally quite detail oriented William Kemble, would it have been too much to tell us how each member of the Ulster Town Board voted??? When the GOP Legislators voted for the 39% tax hike a few years back, the Freeman let us all know it was the Republicans who screwed up. But when Nicky Woerner and his Democrat dominated Board vote for this massive tax hike, it is apparently not important to tell who voted how.

You can't fault Kemble. He's a correspondent. But for crying out loud, would it be too much to ask the Freeman Editors to get the vote count for the news article.

Man, we never thought we'd say it, but boy do we miss Hugh Reynolds and wish he was writing someplace more than on a weekly basis . .

It has been said that Nickie is a boy doing a mans job. Without Zweben, Maloney,Watzka and Aaron dictating his every move, he would have failed much sooner.

Whose team is Maloney on anyway? Does he get shown the door with his buddy Nicky or does he jump back to where he is suppose to be.

UCP, Weren't you praising Nickie for giving KPA money last year about this time? What happened?

Watch the GOP try to cut a deal for Maloney and blusterin' Brian Cahill to run unopposed.

You made an error. First Woerner beat Maxwell in 2005, then he beat Wise.

He will not lose next year for one and only one reason. He will not run. Rather than get the ass kicking he deserves, he will look for greener pastures.

Mike Berardi will figure somewhere in here. Either as Supervisor or in a comeback for the Legislature.

To 9:54, whose post starts out:

Since you asked. I can say from first hand experience that Maloney has always been on Maloney's team. Everything and everyone else doesn't matter.

Various specific allegations about one of the subjects of this post contained pseudo-criminal allegations. As such, Ulster Politics cannot post it since there is no verification. Sorry.

We didn't make an error. Nicky, when he was just 19 almost beat Fred Wadnola.

Two years later, Fred didn't run and Nicky was elected (it is true, he beat
Walter Maxwell). In 2007 he beat Don Wise.

If he runs next year, he'll go down in flames to Wise, Morrow, or Wadnola.

The post which Ulster Politics had to delete before contained allegations of petition fraud. The poster (or someone else) has submitted the below story as the evidence. Ulster Politics still cannot (given this world of lawsuits against bloggers) post all the comments, but the news article speaks for itself:

TOWN OF ULSTER - A Democratic Ulster County legislator is asking a judge to invalidate a Republican legislator's Independence Party petition because some of the signatures on it may not have been witnessed by the notary who stamped the document.

Attorney John Koplovitz, who is representing the Democrat Michael Berardi of Ulster, said a hearing on the matter has been scheduled for Monday in state Supreme Court in Kingston.

The hearing comes in the wake of Thomas Turco, the county's Republican election commissioner, and Harry Castiglione, the Democratic commissioner, differing on a request by Ulster County Legislator James Maloney, R-Ulster, to withdraw the petition that Berardi claimed was notarized by Town Clerk Jason Cosenza without witnessing the signatures. Cosenza, like Maloney, is a Republican.

Turco wanted the petition withdrawn. Castiglione did not.

Maloney concedes that, in some cases, Cosenza sat in a nearby car while the petition was being signed, but the legislator says that was sufficiently close for the notarization to be legitimate. But Maloney still offered to withdraw the petition.

Koplovitz said he expects to subpoena Cosenza to testify at the hearing, but not Maloney, who is away on vacation.

Berardi said he wants to hear from Cosenza on the matter and getting him into court may be the only way to make that happen.

Berardi said that unlike other notaries who have been challenged for authorizing petitions without witnessing signatures, Cosenza has not submitted any kind of explanation and has declined to comment on the case.

"I just want to hear from Jason," Berardi said. "As far as I am concerned, we should get an explanation from Jason."

Two other notaries, Richard Cahill Jr., the city of Kingston's Republican chairman, and Richard Roth, Ulster County's director of personnel, wrote letters to the Ulster County Board of Elections admitting they notarized election petitions improperly.

The disputed Maloney petition seeks an "opportunity to ballot" in the Sept. 13 primary for the Independence Party line in this fall's general election.

The challenge to Maloney's petition comes as rulings have been handed down in other petition challenges.

So when Nickie loses, Maloney will proceed to suck up to who ever else is sitting in that office as he did with Wadnola and Gropusso before Nickie. It is just a shame the voters haven't caught up to him yet. You betcha! If the voters only understood how bad it really is the would throw him out right along with Nickie.

It sounds to me like Maloney needs to go or the voters will force him to go. Either way it will be good riddance.

What is truly amazing is that the dems think they have something with Mike Berrardi. He has no experience being Chair of the IDA and he was a real waste on the County Legislature too.

The best thing that the county dems should do is dump Berrardi by seeing through his BS.

I have taken it upon myself to recruit and bring into the Town of Ulster a real supervisor candidate, Chuck Norris. He is the only one
who will lead the Police Force to victory against the gangs, single handedly run the DARE program and can kick Nick Woerner's "butt" in donut eating contests, campaigning and the election as supervisor. Democrats tremble in fear. I petition this blog and others to rightfully place Chuck Norris on the poll and future polls.

to 11:55, If the town wasn't in such bad shape, that would be funny. But the Town needs a no nonsense supervisor who will clean things up.

If whomever sent the above piece of fiction worked as hard to get Mr. Auerbach elected, he may have won. The above comment is obviously untrue, so this is not news, but it was obviously a waste of someone's time. GO QUIGLEY.

Nicky sure needs a cleaning with the likes of his father(Joe Boris) and his boss(Steve Aaron)calling the shots.
