The Stone Ridge Orchard and Stone Ridge Wine & Spirits hosted the Rondout Valley Growers Association's 5th Annual Dinner and Wine Tasting Saturday night, June 28, 2008. It was the RVGA's first major fundraising event of 2008 and featureed a menu of culinary delights created by local chefs using locally grown farm products paired with New York state wines. Funds raised directly support RVGA's general marketing efforts for Rondout Valley farms and farmers.

Ulster County Executive candidate, Len Bernardo and Ulster County Comptroller candidate, Jim Quigley showed their support of the Rondout Valley Growers and attended the dinner. Notably absent were candidates Michael Hein and Elliott Auerbach. The staff at Ulster Politics hopes that their absence does not mean that farming is not a top priority for them. The farms in Ulster County add to the natural beauty that we all enjoy every day. We must all make an effort to support our local growers. Instead of buying your vegetables at the "chain" grocery stores, stop in at a local farm stand and support your local growers.

Rondout Valley Growers slogan is
"We're Just Down the Road." BUY LOCAL!
We're glad to see that Mr. Bernardo and Mr. Quigley took the time out of their busy schedules to support such a local and worthy cause in Ulster County.

I was at the Ulster County Community Foundation Garden Party at the home of Marianne Murray & Rich Rowley. I was pleased to see Len Bernardo and Jim Quigley there. "Notably absent" were Michael Hein and Elliott Auerbach. For people that are supposed to be everywhere, they are 0 for 2 this weekend for events to "be seen" at.

Len Bernardo and Jim Quigley were on the Kingston waterfront for the fireworks on Sunday night. There were a fair amount of people that recognized Bernardo from Skate Time 209, including my children.

I saw Bernardo on a yacht called the Bella Donna moored by the Steel House. It was a really nice yacht. He was smiling and with friends and looked like a very nice person. I knew it was him from his name tag.
