Let's boost our budget by $90,000

While the rest of the nation is cutting back, the House of Representatives will vote this week whether they should boost their own budgets.... by about $90,000 each.

The House Administration Committee has issued memos announcing the unusually large increase, averaging about $90,000 per House member in 2009. This will bring the average member's office budget to nearly $1.5 million.

435 members x $90 thousand = $39.1 million dollars being spent.

Wow, I guess that's change we can believe in. Can you imagine someone adding $90,000 to your budget?

I can hear the Beach Boys song now... Wouldn't it be nice.... if we could add $90,000 to all of our budgets.... and wouldn't it be nice if no one noticed and we could go on a spending spree...

Obama has frozen the salary of his staffers over $100,000 and he is outraged over the CEO compensation and corporate jets.

Obama needs to show some outrage over this lack of restraint in spending.

Wow! If I had been asked to guess what the average budget is for he Congressman's office I would not have come up with a number anywhere near $1.5 million.

I think it is the lack of shame about this kind of spending on jobs for cronies and incidentals at all levels of government that strikes me most.

This kind of news makes me think that I would be happier if I just threw up my hands in surrender, stopped following the news and joined the ranks of the uninformed. Could ignorance really be bliss?

$90,000 more for what? So they can hire more of their friends like Mike Hein did?

This spending of taxpayer dollars so that politicians can hand out jobs to their friends has got to stop.

How can the Democrats and Obama say that they are looking out for the taxpayer, yet they want to put this sort of increase through.

If this post is accurate and there are 435 members of the House at $1.5 million per Congressperson, that is $653 million dollars and add in the Senate - that is obscene.

If Obama could make a phone call over a jet for Citicorp, I think he should pick up the phone and call over the House of Representatives and tell them to put a hold on that $90,000 raise.
